Judith Anne White, nee Brownlee, went peacefully to be with God on September 4, 2024. Born in Akron, Ohio on October 2, 1938, she spent most of her 85 years on this earth doing what she loved: being a wife, a mother, and an educator.
Judy is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gene C. White, daughter Shelly (Mark) Ferensic, son Tom (Maureen) White, daughter Karen (Randy) Nye, and Grands, Jackie (Chris) Ferensic, Justin (Hannah) Ferensic, Chris Nye, Alex (Nadine) Nye, Cory Nye, Zach Nye, TJ (Mary) White, Jake (Mary) White, and Great-Grands, Bailey (Logan) Ferensic, Hayden, Parker and Carson Ferensic, Luke and Joni Nye, Tommy White, Drew and Allie Kury and her nieces, Jill (Jim) Cygan, and Jody (Holley) Goddard. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold (Bud) Brownlee, mother, Mary Katherine Brownlee, her brother, John Brownlee, and niece, Jenny Brownlee.
It all started because two people fell in love! Judy met her future husband, Gene, at the age of fifteen, and they were together from that day forward. Both Gene and Judy graduated from Akron University, where Judy earned a BS in Education. The two were married on June 6, 1959, and had three children over the next 5 years. Judy subsequently received her MS in Education from Michigan State University, and her principal's license from Purdue University.
Over the course of their marriage, they lived in Akron, OH, Lansing, MI, LaGrange, IN, and Marietta, GA, making many life-long friendships along the way. In 1979, Gene was transferred back to Akron where they made their final home on Rothrock Circle, officially deemed, "Indian Hills Farm." While they loved to travel and "make memories" (one of Judy's favorite sayings,) with their family and friends, Indian Hills Farm was their happy place.
Judy made a difference in the lives of countless people as a parent, grandparent and during her 45 years as a teacher, tutor, and principal. Her grandkids will forever remember their ping pong matches (she always won,) buttermilk pancakes, The Hobyahs, and the phrase, "pencil proper" as she helped them with their homework. Judy was a warm, kind, and caring person who never met a stranger. She was loved and cherished by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Portage Country Club, 240 N Portage Path, Akron, OH, on October 5th at 4:00 PM.
One of Judy's favorite places was the Nature Realm Visitor Center where she loved to take family members and students to feed the chickadees.
