John Sheldon White, known affectionately as Sheldon by his family and friends, passed away peacefully at home on October 22, 2025 surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 87. Born in Willards to Olen and Esther White; and in addition to his parents, Sheldon was predeceased by his brother Royce White and sister Margie Palmer. Sheldon grew up to be a person synonymous with humor, kindness, and friendliness.
His life was marked by dedication to his family, community and his professional life as well. Sheldon devoted many years to Delmarva Power & Light. After his retirement, he served many years at the Holloway Funeral Home. Besides his work, Sheldon was a life member of the Willards Volunteer Fire Department serving many years as Chief, exhibiting his strong commitment to helping others. Sheldon will also be remembered as an outstanding pillar of New Hope Methodist Church by his extended church family who meant a lot to him. He also had a warm and loving home with his beloved wife, Isabelle. Together, they raised a family that filled their life with laughter and joy. The loving father of Beverly Tindall (Jimmy), John White (Lisa), and Janet Davis (Darren). He was also a grandfather to Jimmy Dean, Amanda, (Kyle), Dillon, Brooke and his great-grandson, Evan.
Friends and family alike will remember Sheldon for his quick wit and willingness to lend a helping hand and his love of watching the Delmarva Shorebirds which he had seasons tickets to. His passing leaves a void in the community of Willards and Salisbury, where he was loved by many.
