Karen Ann (McBrien) Borenstein, 52, beloved wife of Robert E. Borenstein, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. Born in Boston. she is the beloved daughter of Ronald and Lois (Ceruolo) McBrien. Karen grew up in Saugus and was a graduate of Saugus High School. She was a talented athlete and tennis pro. For many years, she worked as an executive secretary for Raytheon. She was a member of the Daughter of the Revolution and a member of the General Society of Mayflower Decedents. Karen was an artistic person, enjoyed entertaining by her pool, lover of animals and most of all loved her family. In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her two children: Delaney Rose Borenstein and Robert Edward Borenstein, Jr.; two brothers: Kevin McBrien and his wife Leslie and Steven McBrien and his wife Andrea; two nieces: Mackenzie and Mackayla McBrien and one nephew Stevie McBrien along with many friends. Funeral services will be held from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St., (RT 28) Stoneham on Wednesday, June 7th, at 9am. Followed by a funeral mass celebrating Karen's Eternal Life at St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the family on Tuesday, June 6th from 4-8pm in the funeral home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment will be in Lindenwood Cemetery. Please consider making donations in Karen's Memory to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave, Salem, MA 01970. The first word that comes to mind when I think of Karen has always been "sweet".
