Kathleen "Katy" Nappi passed away Tuesday, October 24th at home after a long bout with Multi System Atrophy. She was 54 years old. Katy had a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile to match! She had exceptional determination and this was evident in every facet of her life. When she set her mind to something, it was done! She battled her disease with grace and dignity for nearly 8 years. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, music and spending time with her family watching the sunset over Lake Ontario. Katy was a gift and a blessing to all who knew her. She truly valued her friendships old and new, near and far. She attended Jamesville-DeWitt schools and graduated from St. John Fisher College with a degree in Gerontology.
Katy worked at Loretto for 27 years. She started her career as a case manager and was soon promoted to Director of Admissions and Marketing for all Loretto housing communities. Because of her expertise in senior living she played a critical role in the recent expansion of Loretto's Nottingham campus. Katy supported and improved the lives of thousands of seniors in our community and established standards of practice that are still embraced today, including but not limited to the Loretto Resource Guide which continues to be utilized in all area hospitals and rehabilitation centers. Katy's integrity, leadership, teamwork and compassion will always be remembered among her Loretto family.
Katy is survived by her husband Daniel Nappi, her two beloved daughters Caroline and Samantha, her parents Roger and Kathy Fitzgibbons, brothers Matthew and Kevin Fitzgibbons, and sisters Sheila Pratt, Sara Norgle, and Maura Snow.
The Nappi family especially thanks her cherished and loved caregivers. As well as the doctors and nurses of the University of Rochester Neurology Department.
