Frank J. Nappi, 57, of Bedford, MA passed into eternal peace on August 11, 2025. He died suddenly while on a family vacation in Virginia, surrounded by his beloved wife Judy and children, Samantha, Daniel and James.
Frank was born in West Islip, NY on July 1, 1968 to Gaetana (D’Bella) Nocella and Frank Nappi, Jr. His children can relay the many fond and animated stories that their Dad told about his childhood in West Babylon, NY, on the south shore of Long Island. Frank was the youngest child in his family – the baby brother of Dawn and Tina. He grew up in a multigenerational home with his grandparents. He proudly (and repeatedly) told his children about his first job at 12 years old, delivering newspapers, and how he used to work at the local pizza place. Frank attended West Babylon High School and loved playing baseball and football.
In 1986, Frank moved to Boston, joining his sister Tina, at Boston University. While putting himself through school, he worked as a bartender and could often be seen rollerblading down Newbury Street. Soon after arriving in New England, Frank became a devoted Boston sports fan. Frank especially loved the Red Sox and going to the games at Fenway Park with his family. (Sorry, NY Yankees - not sorry!). Frank also became a die-hard fan of golf, which he took up as a passionate hobby. His circle of friends have participated in annual golf tournaments for the last 20+ years.
Frank met Judy in 2001 at the birthday party of one of his golf buddies, Bobby, who is married to MaryLou, Judy’s sister. The connection was instant – they exchanged smiles across the room all evening. Their first date in December 2001 sealed the deal. Judy soon met Frank’s family at his nephew, Noah Southard’s first birthday party in March 2002. Judy’s parents, Patricia and the-late John Lane, and her siblings, Mark (Julie DeMatteo), MaryLou (Bobby McCarthy), Bob (Beth Quinn), Jack (Claire Lane), and Kevin (Page Weiche), and many nieces and nephews became Frank’s treasured family. He loved every minute with family – loud Sunday dinners, holidays, birthdays, First Communions, confirmations, Easter egg hunts, welcoming new babies, and Boston College football games with the Lane family. He loved spending time with family nearby and was a godfather to Noah and Nox Southard. Frank often traveled to New York to visit his aunt, Anne Heithaus, and sister, Dawn, and his niece Erin (Alex Aloia) and nephew Brian.
Frank was a hard working person, who loved to solve problems. He was a self-proclaimed “techie" who had a successful career leading Information Technology at pharmaceutical companies and financial institutions. Frank most recently worked at Aera Therapeutics Inc. He loved the people and the work. He held previous positions as IT manager at Agios Pharmaceuticals and State Street Bank. Frank was everyone’s “go-to” whenever they had a tech issue - whether showing up at your house to fix something or remotely helping you find a solution.
Frank was a deeply devoted and loving husband and father. Frank and Judy married in 2004 and honeymooned in Italy, where they returned last year for their 20th anniversary. They were delighted to move to Bedford in 2010. Frank was always on the sidelines cheering on his children, celebrating their accomplishments, and beaming with pride in all things Samantha, Daniel and James. He loved Judy and the children and constantly showered them with affection and care. He delighted in their family time together, whether it was mini-golfing, going to Bedford Farms or the barn to visit Sam’s horse Mojito, at a Bruins game, or having breakfast at home. The Nappi kids will also tell you that their Dad was proud to be the loudest screamer on any rollercoaster during their frequent outings to amusement parks.
Bedford was the perfect town for Frank. He loved coaching soccer, attending school events, and getting to know his neighbors. Frank was generous, kind, hard-working and funny. His passing is heartbreaking and came too soon. He will be remembered everyday.
Frank is predeceased by his parents. He leaves his wife of 21 years, Judy (Lane), his daughter, Samantha and sons, Daniel and James; his sisters, Dawn Donovan of Tuckahoe, NY and Tina Nappi (David Southard) of Bedford, MA and many nieces and nephews.
