Lavona Clara Howard

LaVona C Howard, (née Krebsbach) aged 94, of Downey, California, passed away on August 4th in hospice after suffering a fall and a massive stroke.
LaVona was born on August 14th, 1929 in Rosemont, Nebraska to Steve and Cecilia Krebsbach. She grew up in Lawrence and ended her schooling in 8th grade to help on the farm. She later received her GED in California and went on to pursue many careers mostly working in the hospital.
On September 6, 1968, LaVona married JoBailey Howard. Together, they shared wonderful memories and maybe had a few too many drinks together! LaVona became a stepmother and loved those kids dearly. She was known for her participation in clubs, a passion for arts and crafts, and her love of card games and ice cream to name a few.
LaVona is survived by her brother Arnold, sister Julia, her three step kids Jeannie, Katie, and Betsy, and her long list of nieces / great-nieces & nephews / great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, her mother and father, and her brothers Jerome and Dick as well as her sister Lois. She is also preceded by her lifelong friend Mary Morris, whose daughters meant the world to LaVona.
All of LaVona's dear friends and family shall miss her deeply. I for one (her great-nephew Matthew) cannot begin to describe the hole in my heart that has been left, but knowing how many lives LaVona has touched and left a lasting impression on is healing in of itself.
