Life Reflection of Sister Leona “Peggy” Rollins
1942-2023
Sunrise:
Leona Elizabeth “Peggy” Scott Rollins was born April 15, 1942, in Ellzey, Florida to the late Eddie Scott and Alvera McCray.
Education :
She received her early education in the Levy County School system and later attended Hampton Junior College in Ocala, Florida.
Married Life:
She met her husband of many years, Oscar Rollins Sr., who preceded her in death.
Christian Faith:
She was baptized at an early age in Otter Creek, Florida and has been a member of St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, Archer, Florida for a number of years where she has served faithfully as a deaconess.
Employment:
She was employed in food services department of Shands at the University of Florida hospital where she retired after decades of service. During her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering as a foster grandparent in the Alachua County School System.
Community Service:
In the community, she was well known and lovingly referred to as “The Cake Lady” for decades of blessing us with her extraordinary confectionary creations. She was also a member of the Female Protective Society Inc. #10 and worked dutifully in Lodge #4.
Sunset:
July 13, 2023, at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.
Memories:
Sister Peggy Rollins leaves to cherish her precious memories:
Three Brothers Deacon Joe Eddie Scott Sr.(Dorothy), Leroy Peter Scott(Virginia- deceased) and Evangelist Robert Scott(Evangelist Rutha Mae).
Three stepchildren: Jeirmain Rollins, Janice Wilcox, and Shirley Ann Wilcox.
Sister-in-laws: Ruby Allison, Martha Lott, Jessie Mae Perry, Betty Rollins, Janie Rollins, and Queenie Mae Rutledge.
Several and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
