Manuel A. Lopes

Manuel A. Lopes, 73, of New Bedford, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. He was the husband of Laurenca C. (Conceicao) Lopes.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, son of Ana (Lopes) Spinola and the late Louis Facada, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Manuel loved reading books, working on the house, gardening, and helping people. He enjoyed community service work and volunteered at local food pantries. Manny and Laurenca were proud foster parents for 9 years. Manny was a dedicated member of the New Bedford Portuguese Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his sons, Ezequiel C. Lopes, John C. Lopes, and Junior Lopes, all of New Bedford; his daughters, Ana Maria Lopes of New Bedford, Manuela Lopes, Theolinda Lopes, and Ana Paula Lopes, all of Pawtucket, Lutinha Lopes and Angela Lopes both of California; his siblings, John Lopes Spinola, Jose Spinola Lima, Luiz Facada, Manuel Facada, Albert Facada, Antone Facada, Candida Facada, Helena Facada, and Eugenia Facada; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His Funeral will be Monday, March 20th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Service at the New Bedford Portuguese Seventh Day Adventist Church, 413 Rockdale Ave, New Bedford at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. His visiting hours in the funeral home will be Sunday, March 19th from 4 to 8 PM.
