Marguerite Preston Obituary

Marguerite M. (Sullivan) Preston “Peg” passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the age of 103. Peg was the wife of the late Lee L. Preston, Sr. of Gwynedd Valley, PA. Peg and Lee were married for 70 years before he passed in 2019. She was born on November 12, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late John L. and Christine E. (Weber) Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward Sullivan and James Sullivan and niece, Diane Sullivan.

Peg graduated in 1938 from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School. She began her working career as an Administrative Assistant at N. Snellenburg & Company in Philadelphia, PA. She also spent 50 years in the automobile industry working as an Administrative Assistant at West German Mercedes in Fort Washington, PA and in finance at Volvo Cars in Fort Washington, PA. She retired at the age of 90 in 2010.

Marguerite enjoyed spending time with her family attending various activities that her children participated in throughout their childhood and later her grandchildren’s activities– everything from dance to colorguard to soccer and swimming. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, sketching, cooking, and baking.

She was a member of St Rose of Lima, North Wales, PA, St. Titus, East Norriton, PA and later attended St. Thomas More in Pottstown, PA.

Marguerite is survived by her four sons (Barry, Lee, Brian, and Stuart) their spouses (Wanda (deceased), Marian, Nancy Schwemler, and Lora) and her six grandchildren – Angela Meyers (Andrew), B. Mattison Preston, Alicia Chirsan (Josh), Paige Sassany (Jack), Kyra Gellman (Jarrett) and Lea Preston along with two great grandsons Ayden Meyers and Landon Sassany. She is also survived by two nieces Kathleen (Sullivan) Raftery, Elaine (Sullivan) Gaughey, and one nephew John Sullivan.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing being held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2101 Pottstown Pike, Pottstown, PA 19465 on Monday, September 9, 2024 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will follow at St. John Neumann Cemetery, 3797 County Line Road, Chalfont, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memorial to Marguerite M. Preston to Dementia Society of America www.DementiaSociety.org/donate or Van Andel Institute www.support.vai.org.
