MARILYN RICE OBITUARY -
Marilyn Rice passed away on May 5, 2023 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston
Marilyn Rice was born February 3, 1941 in Slayton, Minnesota to Roy and Inez (Wedge) Witte. The family moved to a farm in Early, Iowa where Marilyn was raised. Marilyn graduated from Crestland High
School in 1959. She loved to play basketball and she sang in both the school and church choirs. Marilyn had a beautiful soprano voice. As part of the marching and concert band, she played the trumpet.
After graduation in 1959, Marilyn moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she worked for Central Life Assurance. She retired from there, and soon after met the love of her life, Leonard Rice.
The couple were married in June of 1960 and they had 4 children together by the time Marilyn was 24 years old. Marilyn is survived by children Lori (Bruce Egger) Rice, Todd Rice, and Lisa (Frank) Mauro; grandchildren
Lindsey Rice, Brandon Rice, Hailee & Frank Mauro, and Madison Crozier; great-grandchildren Tyler Lewis, Cade Crozier, with one on the way; and great-great-grandchild Owen Lewis.
She is also survived by her siblings Dwight Witte, Gayle (Dan) Higbee, Judy Nunez, and several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard in 1999, her son Tony Rice in 2021, and her
parents.
The family would like to thank Tracy and Katie with Suncrest Hospice.

I am so sad to hear that Marilyn Rice passed. We worked together for many years and retired together. We had a lot of fun at work and I considered her one of my best friends at Central Life,
