Earl K. "Skip" Rice, Jr., age 63 of Louisville, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Signature Healthcare East. A Louisville native, he was born July 19, 1962, the son of June Nall Rice and the late Dr. Earl K. "Skip" Rice, Sr.
Skip was a proud graduate of Trinity High School class of 1981. He was employed at Kroger's for twenty-eight years. Skip was of the Catholic faith, and was a lifelong member of St. John Paul II Parish. He was a UofL Cardinal fan, often found supporting his favorite team.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Earl K. "Skip," Sr.; his sister Bridget Anne Rice; grandparents Earl A. & Margaret G. Rice, and Roy L. and Mary Katherine Harrington Nall.
He is survived by his devoted mother, June Nall Rice; sisters Patricia A. Filley and Margaret "Maggie" Callam (Bruce); his loving nephew, David Filley (Pami); niece, Morgan Kirchgessner (Martin); and his nephew Brendan Callam (Haley).
Skip's funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00am Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, 3529 Goldsmith Lane. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00am to 11:00am Wednesday, prior to the funeral mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Skip's memory may be made to the Mustard Seed Food Pantry, Care of St. John Paul II Church, 3529 Goldsmith Lane, Louisville, Kentucky 40218.
