DANVERS- Mr. Michael P. Chmura, Jr. 77, of Danvers, beloved husband of Joanne M. (Ceriello) Chmura, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Beverly Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born in San Diego, California he was the son of the late Michael Sr. and Anna (Danek) Chmura. He was raised and educated in Westfield, MA and was a graduate of Westfield High School. Michael continued his education at U-Mass Amherst prior to joining the Navy.
An honorably discharged veteran, Mr. Chmura proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam era. During his enlistment, Michael attended several schools concentrating on nuclear power and submarine maintenance. He received several medals and commendations for his time spent aboard submarines and for his brave service to his country.
Upon his return from the service, Michael received his Bachelor's Degree from Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire. Following graduation he embarked on a long and distinguished career in technology working for several high technology companies throughout the country.
He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed taking in all the local sports. He was a gifted athlete and played several sports in high school and college. Michael enjoyed coin and stamp collecting and visiting museums.
The ultimate family man, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Family was paramount and Michael was happiest when surrounded by them and involved in their many activities, whether it was riding bikes, skiing, traveling, especially to the family home on Lake Winnipesaukee and boating swimming and fishing or simply enjoying a good ice cream cone. He was quiet by nature with a kind and caring soul and was always there for his family with his unwavering support and love. His quiet and gentle demeanor were apparent, his inner strength and love he possessed for his family and friends will be his legacy.
Surviving Michael in addition to his wife Joanne with whom he shared 56 wonderful years of marriage are his children, Christina Chmura of West Peabody, Michael Chmura of Santa Fe, NM and Brian Chmura of Falls Church, VA, his grandchildren, Nicholas Chmura of Columbus, GA and Zachary Chmura of Alpharetta, GA, Catherine Chmura and Liam Chmura both of Falls Church, VA, his siblings, Theresa Lecrenski of Westfield, MA, Philip Chmura and his wife Marylou of Westfield, MA and Annmary Boruchowski and her husband Peter of East Hampton, MA, several nieces and nephews and his devoted therapy dog Luna.
