Michael Gerhart Obituary

Born in Lebanon on February 3, 1960, he was the son of the late Henry E. "Skip" Gerhart and Jean A. (Kreider) Gerhart. He graduated from Northern Lebanon High School with the Class of 1978. Michael went on to get his teaching degree at West Chester University, where he continued his love of baseball. He was teaching at General Nash Elementary School, and while teaching he went on to earn his Master's in education. He enjoyed teaching his emotional support students and often shared stories of their accomplishments before he retired. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Jonestown. Mike enjoyed watching college sports and NASCAR, but his greatest love was going to sprint car races on the dirt track.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Gregory M. Gerhart of Dover and Matthew D. Gerhart of Wray, CO, and brother Timothy husband of Jill Gerhart of Sterling, VA.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd., Jonestown. There will be a viewing from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Private Interment will be on Monday at Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Jonestown.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Brain Injury Association of PA, 947 Wayne Ave #110, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

I knew Mike from WCU days and living together after college. I will miss our racing talks and remember trips to Penn National on Sunday nights. RIP Mike.
