WILLIAMSPORT- Harold Walter Gerhart of Williamsport, MD passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025 at Williamsport Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Born at West Washington Street, Hagerstown, MD on February 15, 1934, he was the Son of the Late Eli Burkett Gerhart and Helen Louise Schlotterbeck Gerhart. Harold was a devoted, loving, and caring husband, father, uncle, and friend to many.
Harold married the late Dorothy Jean (Bloyer) Gerhart on May 28, 1955 and they celebrated 56 years of marriage, prior to Dorothys passing on June 2, 2011. Harold was the father of one son, the late Wayne Alan Gerhart, who passed away on March 29, 2025. Harold was artistic, he enjoyed drawing and photography. Even in his school days he could always be found with a camera. Harold and Dorothy enjoyed their many vacations out west with Wayne and companion Marcie Foster. Dorothy made a photo book of each of their trips. Their adventures didnt stop when Waynes job transferred him to Oklahoma then Missouri. They always enjoyed their time together. Harold also liked historic and modern cars for which he was able to identify and discuss any specific vehicle manufacturing.
Harold was of Christian faith.
Harolds career started as an usher at Henrys Theatre in Hagerstown, MD and then as an attendant with a garage/gas station on Antietam Street. Harold found his career position at the Potomac Edison Company as a material handler and after many years of service, retired in 1997. He was a member of the Utility Workers Union and a Life Member of the Improved Order Of Red Men Tribe #84, Williamsport, MD.
Harold is survived by one sister, Mildred Eichelberger (Jack), his sons companion Marcie Foster, several nieces and nephews. Beside his parents, Harold was predeceased by his sister, Doris Lucille Younker on June 11, 2025 and brother-in-law, Glenn (Pete) Younker in April 2022.
The Family will receive friends at the Osborne funeral home Friday, August 1, 2025 from 11am to 12pm, located at 425 S. Conococheague Street, Williamsport, MD. Graveside services will be held at 1pm, at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 South Potomac Street, Hagerstown, MD., with nephew, Brian Eichelberger officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 1710 Underpass Way, Suite 300, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
