Michelle Ann Harris (Shelly) was a caring wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend. After a three year battle with cancer, Michelle left this world on March 20, 2023, in the loving arms of her husband, Michael.
Michelle was born to Larry and Mary Houston on May 18, 1957. After graduating from Marion Catholic High School, Michelle joined the Army. While serving her country, Michelle met the love of her life, Michael, in April of 1978. The couple married in February of 1979 and while living in Topeka, KS, three kids soon followed. Shortly after, the family moved to Wichita, KS where they would raise their family.
After the kids were grown, the empty nesters packed up and moved to fabulous Las Vegas. They stayed in Las Vegas for 13 years to enjoy the outdoors, endless amenities, and everything else the Vegas area has to offer. Michelle completed her nursing degree while in Vegas and proudly graduated in 2009. In 2018, the couple moved to the Blue Springs, MO area to be closer to their 6 grandchildren.
Michelle truly enjoyed being a NICU nurse and bringing new life into the world. She was a lover of all things outdoors, including camping, boating, hiking, sightseeing, and Jeepin. She loved planning and taking a yearly trip to the San Diego area and watching the sunset over the Pacific Ocean.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; her son, Jason his wife Amy, and their two daughters, Mary and Madison; her daughter, Kristin Hale, her partner Scott, and her four children, Zachary, Asa, Abby, and Emily; her son, Bradley; her parents, Larry and Mary; and her sisters, Kathi, Pamela, and Elizabeth. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation with the family: 5:00pm-7:00pm, Monday, March 27, 2023, Wulf-Ast Mortuary, 213 W. Wichita, Colwich, KS.
Funeral service: 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 28, 2023, also at Wulf-Ast Mortuary.
