Norma Manning Obituary

Norma Pugh and Russell Manning were married March 21, 1952 at Plainview Christian Church in Macon County by Bro. Elba Martin. Norma continued to worship at Plainview as long as services were held.
Norma was predeceased by her husband, Russell Manning in 1994; parents Tom and Elsie Pugh; sisters, Shirley Chitwood and Janet Heartsill; sister-in-law, Billie Fetter; in-laws, Wilbur and Minnie Manning, who considered Norma to be their own daughter; great-niece Hannah Heartsill; and her nephew, William Fetter.
Norma is survived by her sister, Charlotte Council of Vero Beach, FL; nephews and nieces, Tom (Nadine) Council, Tim Council, Lee Ann (Lamar) Hamilton all of Vero Beach; Marsha Madill and Linda Sue Madill Garrison both of Loveland, CO, Melvin (DeDe) Madill of Weeki Wachee, FL; Karen (Howard) Davenport of Harrisburg, MO, Robert (Joy) Fetter of Crawfordville, FL; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Norma was employed as a telephone operator with the General Telephone Company, Macon-Atlanta State Bank, secretary to Macon High School Principal, Production Credit and Farm Credit Services in Macon and Shelbina, retiring in 1995.
Norma was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, tole painting, china painting and traveling. She loved her family and friends, her dogs, and her flowers. She was a member of Laureate Chi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. Norma and Russ were members of the Macon Saddle Club.
Memorial service will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral home in Macon, MO, with Pastor Andrew Lough officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, until the time of the service, at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, east of Atlanta, MO. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children's or the Randy Johnson Memorial Fund.

Norma and Russel were my Dad and Mom´s Scoop and Mary Usher friends they live close went fishing, hunting, traveling together there are so many stories I couldn´t possibly remember them all but they all loved and lived their best life in Macon

So sad sweet Norma to see you go! So many memories of times spent when you welcomed Bob and I into your home each time we came to Macon to visit his home town. He looked so forward to fishing in your lake! You and I quickly became friends and I will never forget your sweet smile and laughter we shared! I appreciated so much the last time we came to Macon and stayed with you a few weeks before Bob passed away, he loved you so much, and I am sure he was waiting to greet you in heaven. Rest in peace sweet Norma!
