A funeral mass for Paul Carlton Josephson, 77, of Tyler, will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Father Hank Lanik officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Josephson passed away Friday, October 13, 2023. He was born March 8, 1946, in New Britain, Connecticut, to Carlton Arthur Josephson and Gemma Aubin Josephson.
Paul was a member of The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He graduated from Northeastern University and earned a Master of Arts from Webster University. Paul began his career in Lynn, Massachusetts, working for General Electric. He was transferred to Louisville, Kentucky, where he worked for 10 years in various positions before transferring to Tyler, Texas, in 1980, where he worked as purchasing manager for the central air conditioning division and corporate commodity team leader for several teams, notably steel, copper, and aluminum. Paul was active in the National Association of Purchasing Management, a greatly respected business barometer. Later, he became a coach in developing and mentoring supply chain personnel and retired from Ingersol Rand in 2009.
Paul was an active member of the Board of Goodwill of East Texas for 12 years. He held the positions of Secretary, Treasurer, Vice Chair, and Chair. He also served on the Executive Search Committee and as Finance Committee Chair.
Paul was loved by many and known for his witty sense of humor, his smile, and his love of family. He met and married the love of his life, Cyndy, on June 8, 1968. They raised two beautiful daughters whom they adored. Paul enjoyed coaching his girls in softball and golfing with his Oak Hurst 7:48 am Family, but most of all, he loved his wife, Cyndy. Paul was generous, caring, and always had a positive outlook, even during the most difficult times. He was always willing to help those in need and was thankful for his life and those in it until the day he died.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Carlton A. Josephson and Gemma A. Josephson.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Cyndy of 55 years; daughter, Christine E. Runnels and husband Brian of Whitehouse, Texas; daughter, Jennifer J. Brush and husband Brad of Arlington, Texas; sister, Susan Chopus and husband Wayne of Southington, Connecticut; and his four amazing grandchildren, Nicholas Vandiver, John Carlton Vandiver, Ana Brush, and Isabel Brush.
Honorary Pallbearers are Wayne Chopus, Brad Brush, Brian Runnels, Tim Storm, Lou Napolitano, Nicholas Vandiver, and John Carlton Vandiver.
Rosary is scheduled at 5:30 p.m., followed by visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler.
If desired, memorials may be made to Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center, 12222 Merit Drive, Suite 1500, Dallas, Texas, 75251, or Goodwill of East Texas, 409 W. Locust Street, Tyler, Texas, 75702.
