Judith (Coates) Josephson

Brentwood, NH - Judith Coates Josephson, 86, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, with her son by her side, to join her loved ones in heaven.

Born and raised in Seminole Heights, Tampa, Florida, Judith ("Judy") was the daughter of the late Velma K. and Harold A. Coates. She attended Seminole Heights Elementary, Memorial Junior High, and graduated from Hillsborough High School with the Class of 1957. Judy was an active member of Seminole Heights Methodist Church and went on to attend Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. She later earned her bachelor's degree in Education from Florida State University and began her career as an elementary school teacher.

In the early 1960s, Judy met the love of her life, LTC (Ret) Edward H. Josephson, USAF. They married on July 6, 1963, and shared 53 wonderful years together. Judy was initiated into P.E.O. Chapter AM/FL on January 14, 1969, and remained proud of her membership throughout her life. As a devoted Air Force wife, she gracefully moved from state to state, making a loving home for her family wherever they went.

Judy cherished her role as a mother and wife above all. When her children grew, she and Ed found joy in life's simple and grand adventures-traveling the world, spending time with friends, and playing cards together.

She is survived by her son, Edward Andrew Josephson of Brentwood, NH; her granddaughter, Monica Goodine of Bucksport, ME; and her great-grandchildren, Lexin, Chloe, and Asher Goodine. She also leaves behind her sister, Virginia C. Mynatt of Charlotte, NC, along with nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward; her daughter, Karen Josephson Baker; her brother, Harold A. Coates, Jr.; and her parents, Velma and Harold Coates.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 1–3 PM at Stockbridge Funeral Home at 141 Epping Rd, Exeter, NH. A burial service will take place on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 11 AM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.

Judy will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her deep faith, and her ability to create a warm and loving home wherever life's journey took her.
