Ms. Ramona Marie Sims

Ramona Marie Sims was born November 10th, 1943 on the South Side of Chicago through the union of Benjamin Brigham and Arlene Jones. She attended Englewood high school before her union to Cleophus Sims (preceded in death). Their union was blessed with 5 children; William Orlando Jones, Jeffery Leeneil Jones, Tracey Chanelle Sims (preceded in death), Darrick Keith Sims (preceded in death), & Mykel David Sims. Ramona enjoyed life to the fullest. She gave her life to the Lord and devoted countless hours teaching the word of God to all that would listen. When she wasn't serving God through teaching she was spreading his word through song as she loved singing in the choir. Her hobbies included crocheting with her friends and bowling with friends and family. Along with her bowling partners and friends, Ramona often went bowling in tournaments from city to city. So it is to say, she got to see many places which was a life long dream of hers to travel.
Ramona gave so much love to so many but especially her family. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were always on her heart and mind. Even in the late years of her life it was amazing that she remembered every name and birthdate of every single child born unto her.
Ramona leaves behind many cherished memories and hearts touched by her love. She is survived by her sons, Mykel David Sims Sr. (Kayonna), Jeffery Leeneil Jones (Sherri), and William Orlando Jones (Evelyn Jones); her devoted sister, Debra Hester; and her nephew, Cedric Hester Jr., along with nieces Kiana Hester, Toni 'CoCo' Shaw, and Dagmar 'Cookie' Gray. Her grandchildren include Pierre Pouncy, Keith Jones, Michael Sims Jr. (Lakia Sims), Mariah Sims, Kavon Sims, Mykiala Sims, Nastashia Harris, and Maurice Harris (Darlene Harris). She was preceded in death by son Darrick Keith Sims, daughter Tracey Chanelle Sims and her grandchildren Benjamin Jones and Jeremy Jones. Ramona was also a beloved great-grandmother to 11 and a great-great-grandmother to 1. She leaves behind a wonderful host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
Her presence on this side of Heaven will sorely be missed. Such an amazing spirit is impossible to replace. We take all the lessons of love she imprinted on our hearts and prayerfully will impart what she shared with us while she's away, until we meet again. Rest well our Beloved Queen.
