Richard Joe Suarez, known affectionately as Rick to his loved ones, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, at the age of 60 in his hometown of
San Antonio, Texas. Born on September 20, 1964, in the same vibrant city, Rick was a lifelong resident whose presence enriched the lives of those around him.
Rick was a cherished member of the Suarez family, and his passing leaves a void that can never be filled. He is survived by a family who adored him: his three sisters, Brenda Suarez, Roseanna Walker, and Sabrina Campos; two brothers, Ronnie Suarez and Rene Campos; along with his nine nieces and seven nephews. Rick also leaves behind his beloved girlfriend, Elizabeth "Liz" Martinez, with whom he shared many of life's most joyful moments.
Rick was a proud graduate of Fox Tech High School, where he formed friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime. After completing his education, he embarked on a career that saw him working on a ranch with his best friend, a time of his life he often reminisced about with fondness. Rick's professional journey then led him to the appliance industry, where he honed his skills and dedication to craftsmanship.
However, it was his 19 years as a baker that many will remember him for. His passion for baking was only matched by the love he poured into every creation, and the community was all the sweeter for it. Rick's colleagues and customers alike will remember his warm smile and the care he took in his work.
Outside of his professional life, Rick was a man of many interests, with a particular passion for tools and the art of creating and fixing. His hobbies were a reflection of his adventurous spirit; he relished the freedom of the open road and the joy of discovery. Rick's road trips with his girlfriend, Liz, were the highlights of his leisure time, as they explored new places and made memories together.
Rick's love for travel was infectious, and he often returned from his journeys with stories that captivated his family and friends. He had a knack for finding beauty in the simplest of things and could turn an ordinary day into an extraordinary adventure. His laughter and sense of humor were as much a part of him as his generous nature, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
As we bid farewell to Rick, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, commitment, and a zest for life that inspired all who knew him. His legacy is not in the material possessions he left behind, but in the hearts he touched and the joy he spread. Rick's story is one of a man who lived with intention, loved with all his heart, and left this world better than he found it.
The memories of Rick's kindness, his unwavering support for his family, and his ability to find happiness in every moment will continue to live on. Though he may have departed from this earth, his spirit remains a guiding light for all the lives he touched.
A private ceremony will be held to honor Rick's life, where family and close friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and to honor the man who was much more than the sum of his years. Rick's journey on this earth may have concluded, but the impressions he left on our hearts are indelible. Rest in peace, dear Rick, until we meet again.
