Robert ("Bob") G. Del Grande, 83, of Washington Township and formerly of Paramus, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022. Born and raised in Jersey City, Bob was affectionately known by longtime friends and family as "Del". Beloved husband of the late Lucy (Casamassimo) Del Grande. Loving father of Lisa O'Keefe and her husband Kevin, and Bobby Del Grande and his wife Pamela. Cherished grandfather of Ryan and Lauren O'Keefe and Bobby, Michael, and Joseph Del Grande. Dear Fiancé of Phylis Cantanno. Brother of the late John "Rusty" Del Grande.
Bob graduated Dickinson High School in Jersey City in 1957. As a young father, he went to night school and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Seton Hall University in 1965. Bob had a successful career in asset-based lending for Banker's Trust and Freemont Financial in New York City for many years. Bob was also a proud Army veteran, who served in the National Guard from 1959-1965.
Del and his wife Lucy (deceased) moved from Jersey City to Paramus in 1966 to raise their children. There, Bob was a devoted father and a faithful man who played an active part in his parish and children's school, Our Lady of the Visitation R.C. Church. At OLV, he served on the Parent Teachers Association, volunteered on Bingo nights, and was always there to lend a hand in activities throughout the church. Bob and his family loved to host events at their home, Christmas Eve with the extended family was always his favorite. Bob was an active and involved resident of Paramus for 25+ years before settling in Washington Township with his Fiancée Phylis.
Bob was an avid Yankees and Giants fan who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed golf and for many years could be found at Paramus Golf Club with friends throughout the season. He was also a man who loved to garden and do yard work. His homes in Paramus and Washington Township were always adorned with seasonal flowers and plants that he lovingly maintained. Bob passionately enjoyed crabbing and fishing at the Jersey shore, and until last summer he could be found enjoying these favorite pastimes with his son and grandsons in the Barnegat Bay. His greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends. He especially loved talking and laughing with his grandchildren. Bob was a fan of any sport or activity his grandchildren participated in. Over the last 25 years he could be found cheering on the sidelines of countless soccer, football, baseball, field hockey, softball and lacrosse games as well as taking a front row at wrestling matches, dance recitals, and school plays and concerts.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Vander Plaat Memorial home 113 S. Fairview Ave. Paramus, NJ 07652 (201) 843-3100, on Monday October 10, 2022, from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A funeral Mass is planned for Tuesday 10am at Our Lady of the Visitation Church, 234 N. Fairview Ave Paramus. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
