Ronald Edward Perea passed away August 3, 2017 from an unexpected illness.
Ron was born January 6, 1949 in Van Nuys, California to John and Nellie Perea. He met his high school sweetheart Margaret Dominguez at the young age of 14. They later married in 1971 in Piru, California after he returned from Vietnam with numerous metals and an honorable discharge. In 1971, they packed up and moved to Truckee where he would soon join the Nevada County Sheriff's Department and retire after 31 years as a Sergeant. In 2004, he was elected a board member for the Truckee Fire Department. He had continued to be an active member in the Truckee community and had touched the lives of many. He was a true Truckee Local.
Ron genuinely enjoyed spending time with his family and exploring the world around him. He loved fishing, driving his Jeep out into the mountains, kayaking, and brightening up the room with his unique sense of humor. His quick wit and honorable integrity won him the respect and admiration of many.
It can be said with certainty that he will be missed by many. However, he will live on through the countless memories now stored within the minds of all those lucky enough to have met him.
He leaves behind his loving wife Margaret D. Perea, as well as two children (Kathy L. Metlenko and Ron J. Perea), their respective spouses (Matthew H. Metlenko and Garnett A. Perea), and three grandchildren (Casandra K. Bledsoe, Payden H. Metlenko, and Brooklyn E. Perea). He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Mary and Mickey Harvey. As well as, his brother and sister-in-law Rueben and Debbie Perea.
He will be missed by an abundance of family, friends, and comrades.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on August 14th at 11:00 A.M. at the Assumption Catholic Church, 10930 Alder Drive, Truckee, CA.
