It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Ruby G. Harmon Carpenter, 85. Heaven welcomed her home on December 31, 2023.
Ruby was born on October 12, 1938, and she lived a rich and fulfilling life. She was not only a devoted matriarch but also a friend, confidante, and source of inspiration to many. Her resilience in the face of challenges and her enduring optimism were guiding lights for all who knew her.
Ruby was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a pillar of strength and strong faith and a source of boundless love. Her legacy is etched in the countless lives she touched with kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel cherished and was a source of inspiration to us all. Her loss will be felt deeply by all who knew her.
Ruby was a dedicated family woman and a faithful member of Oakhurst Baptist Church. After raising her 5 children she pursued a fulfilling 25+ year career as an OR technician at NWMR Medical Center. She loved her time there serving patients and coworkers and cherished her work family like her own.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her wisdom will continue to guide us through life's journey.
May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may we find solace in the beautiful memories and legacy she leaves behind. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
Ruby is survived by her sons Glen (Ruth) Carpenter of Porum, OK; Curtis (Beth) Carpenter of Lyon, MS; Ricky Carpenter of Covington, TN; daughters Debbie (Eddie) Simmons of Clarksdale, MS; Donna Collins of Millbrook, AL; sisters Bobbie Pritchard of Saltillo, MS; Jennie Knight of Saltillo, MS; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren.
Ruby is preceded in death by her husband Harvey Gene Carpenter; parents Robert E. Lee and Lula Walker Harmon, Jr.; brothers, Robert Harmon, James Harmon, Michael Harmon; sister Julie Williams; grandsons, Jason Carpenter, Brandon Carpenter.
Visitation will begin at 10 AM with the funeral services to follow at 11 AM on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Oakhurst Baptist Church in Clarksdale, MS. with burial to follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
In honor of Ruby's giving spirit, her family requests for donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
