Ruth Lamond, 92, of Salisbury died on August 20, 2022 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home. Born on
February 5, 1930 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Harry G. and Carrie R. Freed.
Though she grew up and lived in Philadelphia, Pa into her thirties, Ruth spent most of her life in
Sharptown, MD where she served as a Girl Scout leader and dedicated her life to rising her six children.
Ruth was a ELCA teacher and a member of the ELCA women s group. She was a member of the church
choir. She also volunteered at Tidal Health Peninsula Regional for many years. While she enjoyed her
volunteerism, her major focus in life was raising her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, William Lamond; her sisters, Lois
Ward, Eunice Farr, and Esther Schuck, and her great-grandson Abe Noah Keene.
Ruth is survived by her children, Cheryl Davis, Scott Lamond, Craig Lamond, Cynthia Mitchell, Dawn
Bennett, and Karen Crane; her grandchildren Lynn Jensen, Kirk Judson, Melissa Erickson, Eric Lamond,
Chad Lamond, Kyle Bennett, Brooke Keene, Kyle Mitchell, Chun Mitchell, and Brian Mitchell; 12 great-
grandchildren; 8 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews and her church family and
friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday September 11 th at Faith Lutheran Church, Salisbury,
Md.
Internment will be private.
Memorial donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 1416 Old Ocean City Road, Salisbury MD
21804 or to Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home, 201 Hall Highway, Crisfield, Md. 21817
