Sandra Kim Jensen, 60, passed away suddenly on August 20, 2023, with her husband Neil at her side. Sandra was born in Pryor, Oklahoma, and grew up in Rio Linda, California. She graduated from high school in the top ten percent of her graduating class. After being awarded an all-expense paid college scholarship, she attended, where she again placed in the top ten percent of her graduating class with a major in French Language.
On March 7, 1987, Sandra married Neil Jensen, who was at the time serving in the United States Air Force. As a family, Neil and Sandra lived at Beale AFB, CA, when their first child, Holly, was born on February 29, 1988. Due to complications, Holly passed away the next day. However, a year later, she gave birth to a little boy they named Samuel.
As a young woman, Sandra worked a variety of jobs, but her favorite was just being a mother to her child. Being the wife of a military member, she was often the sole person in charge of the household and taking care of their son for months at times. Her mission of raising a child to be successful as an individual was paramount to her. Samuel would later graduate from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and join the military.
Sandra was well known for her kindness, baking, and gift-wrapping skills. At some time in the 1990s, Sandra had met a young woman who was pregnant and wanted to do something special for her. This began a tradition of buying baby gifts for young mothers-to-be. Some twenty-plus years later, she had given hundreds of baby gifts away. Sandra was well known for baking cookies and bread for others. As she would say, "It doesn't take much effort to be kind to someone."
Even after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and subsequent medical problems, she maintained a fighting spirit. The last three years were the most difficult for her due to medical complications, but that did not stop her from approaching each day with a positive attitude.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Neil; son, Samuel (Camille); sisters, Jacquelyn Dalpez and Tamalyn Williams; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Della Giesey; and her daughter, Holly.
