Sonia also volunteered with the Sheboygan Area Sister Parish Outreach Program and traveled with the group to New Orleans to work with Habitat for Humanity for several years.
She was an avid supporter of the Democratic Party; Sonia enjoyed working on various campaigns for State and National Elections for many years. She met five Democratic Presidents over the years and enjoyed telling of her experience to be a part of an Honor Guard while in college for President Truman.
Upon retirement as personnel manager from Hayssen, Sonia and Henry continued to travel to Europe as well as all over the U.S. in their motor home. She also assisted Henry in their own business, Sunflower Builders.
