Karen Zimmer, age 92, of Cedar Grove, passed away peacefully at Rocky Knoll on November 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on December 16, 1932, daughter of the late Henry Payne and Ivy (Losey) Payne-Rommelfaenger.
Karen attended St. Paul's Lutheran grade school in Sheboygan and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1950. In 1951, she married Ralph Zimmer at St. John Lutheran Church in Port Washington. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2016. After Ralph passed, she got a computer and took great pride in learning how to use the internet and keeping up with technology.
She worked for many years at Musebeck Shoe Company in Cedar Grove until they closed in 1991.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sherman Center.
Karen loved quilting. She made quilts and quilted wall hangings for all of her family members. She spent many years quilting with the ladies group from her church. She continued to make quilts from home to give to the missions at her church. She enjoyed reading books, crocheting, playing games and spending time with her loving family.
Survivors include: Three sons: Allen (Terri Schwab) Zimmer of Cedar Grove, Ralph G. (Sonja) Zimmer of Batavia and Gary (Nancy) Zimmer of Cedar Grove; Six grandchildren: Jeremiah ( Melissa) Zimmer of Downers Grove, IL, Valarie (Robert) Kilburn of Beechwood, April (Joe) Eleves of Belgium, Jonathan (Nissa) Zimmer of Waunakee, Mark (DeAnna) Zimmer of Cedar Grove and Kayla (Ben) Groenewald of Oostburg; Ten great-grandchildren: Trey, Avery, Delaney, Evelyn, Josef, Piper, Oliver, Rosalee, Ove, and Jayce; Brother, Peter (Patti) Rommelfaenger of Richfield; Brother-in-law, Harvey (Faye) Zimmer of Hingham; As well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: Her husband; Parents; Brothers: Roger (Barbara) Rommelfaenger and Raymond (Rosie) Rommelfaenger; Sister, Joyce (Elroy) Ott; and Sister-in-law, Gladys Zimmer.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Church in Sherman Center. Visitation will take place from 10:00am-12:00pm, with a service to follow at 12:00pm. Rev. Christopher Gillespie will officiate and burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Karen's name for St. John Lutheran Church – Technology Fund.
