Thomas G. Allen, 78, of Two Harbors, MN died peacefully at home on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
Tom was born July 8, 1946, to Ronald and Mary Jane (Bolf) Allen in Duluth, MN and grew up there and in Cook, MN. He was employed for many years as a welder and pipe-fitter with the Merchant Mariners on Lake Superior, at Fraser Shipyards in Superior, Reserve Mining Company in Silver Bay, and Cherne Construction and Lakehead Constructors in Duluth.
Tom was a member of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 11. He loved his family immensely and enjoyed numerous family gatherings. He loved being a Grandpa and spoiling his granddaughter with bags of clothes from Kohls! Living in the woods gave him great joy and peace. He spent time riding motorcycles, four-wheelers and snowmobiling with a great group of friends; as well as taking a trip to Alaska that he described as a “trip of a lifetime”. Tom was an avid fisherman and hunter. He faithfully spent time with his daughter, Tammy, after her accident as well as his aging mother. Sharing his home with his son gave him comfort in his last years.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; Ronald and Mary Jane; his daughter, Tammy Allen; special love, Denise Rippberger; and a sister-in-law, Pat Allen.
He is survived by his daughter, Laurie Allen; son, Joshua Allen; granddaughter, Saoirse; brothers and sisters, Michael Allen, Patty Shogren (Craig), Sandy Youngbauer (Bob); and several special nieces and nephews.
