Wendy L. Burr, 68, of West Winfield, went home to her Lord on February 23, 2024.
She was born December 1, 1955, in Utica NY. She is the daughter of the late Richard C. Williams and Shirley Williams (Gates). She attended school at Sauquoit Valley Central Schools and graduated from Mount Markham Central School in 1975. On June 15, 1984, she united in marriage to Edward C. Burr and shared a blessed union of mutual love until her passing.
Wendy is predeceased by her father Richard Williams and her sister Pamela Williams. Wendy is survived by her loving husband, Edward Burr of West Winfield, her daughters Tracy Burr (Scott) of Clinton NY, and Jessie Sayers (Michael) of
West Winfield, NY, her granddaughters Isabella Arrigo of Clark Mills, and Makenzie Sayers and Morgan Sayers of Frankfort, her mother, Shirley Williams of West Winfield, and sisters, Heidi Pope of Leonardsville, and Jeanine Williams of West Winfield.
Wendy worked alongside her husband for many years running their small business, Valley Cleaners, in
Herkimer, NY and in
Chadwicks, NY, where she wore many hats and kept the business running smoothly.
Wendy loved watching things grow. She and her husband, Ed, planted many beautiful flowers and trees throughout the years. She loved to grow a garden and sit on the front porch and fully enjoying the views of all His creation from the comforts and care of her home. Wendy enjoyed the small things, often pausing to admire an indigo bunting pass by or a hummingbird visit her petunias. Wendy lived a life that serves as a reminder to us that we all should stop and enjoy the view of the landscape, smell the air after a spring rain, and listen to the birds in the trees as they sing. The small things are enormous reminders of His creation and His love for us all.
Wendy was an admirer of the beauty all around her and preferred a slower, more appreciative pace. She enjoyed sharing her appreciation of her plants and her pets with the people that she loved so dearly. She was an avid recipe collector and sharer and would often call her daughters in the middle of the day to share the new recipe that she had just discovered. She cherished watching her granddaughters grow from silly young girls chasing their "Poppy" (Ed) in the yard with water balloons to beautiful and loving young women. Wendy loved to spend time with her daughters and granddaughters.
Wendy's family would like to thank the team at Helios Care and the Unadilla Forks Volunteer Fire Department for their assistance. They would also like to thank the congregation of Cassville Community Baptist Church for their prayers and support over the years.
There will be no calling hours or formal services, per Wendy's wishes. A dinner in Wendy's memory with a gathering of family and friends will be held at Cassville Community Baptist Church on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 5pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Freedom Guide Dogs for the Blind, 1210 Hardscrabble Road, Cassville, NY 13318, or to Helios Care at HeliosCare.org.
