Shawn passed away at his home Thursday evening November 7, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was the second child of Cecil Smith and Tyrone Goodspeed.
Shawn was a Health and Safety Manager in Moab Utah. He had a sense of adventure that followed him through his entire life. He loved anything with wheels and would always try to make them fly. From the time Shawn was a small child he was always testing limits and living the life of a daredevil. Shawn loved the trails in Moab, the snow in Northern Utah, and the waters of Lake Powell. Shawn found something beautiful everywhere life took him, and he found each adventure more exciting than the last. Shawn retired last year and decided to embrace the nomad lifestyle. He decided to start with the Philippines where he fell in love with yet another place and its people.
Shawn showed the world a very tough, strong exterior but he had a big heart and cared deeply about those he loved. Shawn especially loved his dogs. The relationship he shared with them was a pure expression of the love he had inside.
Shawn was married to Shellee Young and together they raised her three children. He later married Ann Greaves who also had three children. He and Ann subsequently divorced.
Shawn is survived by his mother Cecil (Wallace) Smith, sister Barbara Walton, stepmother Lorna Goodspeed, stepbrothers Denzil (Sherrie) Remington and Phillip Remington, several step-grandchildren, and a large extended family.
Shawn will be missed by all who loved him. There will be no service at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
