William (Bill) S. Molloy, Jr., passed away peacefully on November 7, 2021 at the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice in Newton, NJ. He was 66 years old.
Bill is predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia Burns Molloy, and his parents, William S. Molloy and Mary K. Molloy. He is survived by his three treasured children and his beloved grandchildren: Erin Borland and her husband Matt of East Montpelier, VT; Kevin Molloy, his wife Meghan, and their baby girl (due to be born in early December) of Phoenix, AZ; and Libby Knouse, her husband Pete, and their children Mackenzie and Ryan of Doylestown, PA. He is also survived by his loving siblings: Patricia Molloy of Pine Bush, NY; Kathleen Molloy of Wyckoff, NJ; Mary E. Molloy of Rockaway, NJ; and James Molloy of Reno, NV.
Bill grew up in Ridgewood, NJ and graduated from Bergen Catholic High School and the University of Massachusetts - Amherst. After a very successful career on Wall Street with Morgan Stanley, Bill retired early and relocated his family from Wyckoff, NJ to Norwich, VT. He became a licensed pilot and enjoyed spending more time with his family.
When the children were grown, he and Pat moved to a golfing community in Grantham, NH before settling in Austin, TX. Like a true Texan, he became a connoisseur of barbecue and smoked his own meat. Bill loved flying his plane and riding his motorcycle with his beloved wife, Pat. He rode all of historic Route 66 with his brother, Jim. He and Pat also toured the USA in their RV, golfing and attending RV and motorcycle rallies.
After Pat passed away seven years ago, Bill traveled to Thailand frequently to scuba dive and participate in motorcycle tours with his friend, Steve. He adored all that "The Land of Smiles" had to offer, but perhaps nothing more than the cuisine. He also visited his grandchildren often, creating precious relationships and many cherished memories with them.
Bill was an exceptional individual. He provided quiet, generous support to many charities, academic institutions, and hospitals, as well as his church. His quick wit and sense of humor could brighten any gathering. Bill will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Following his unfortunate cancer diagnosis in December 2020, Bill relocated to New Jersey to be closer to many of his family members and to seek treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Arrangements are handled by Vander Plaat Funeral Home, Wyckoff, NJ. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth's Church in Wyckoff on Friday, November 12 at 10am.
