John E. Curry

John Edward Curry, longtime resident of Dumont, NJ, passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 70.
John was born in New York on June 2, 1955, to Thomas and Joan but shortly afterward moved to New Jersey. He was a proud graduate of Bergen Catholic High School (1973) and Providence College (1977).
To John, golf was his life! He was a PGA member and worked for many years as the Golf Professional at Apple Ridge Country Club in Mahwah. Up until last week he was still giving lessons at Darlington Golf Course in Mahwah. His love of the game allowed him to inspire many to take up the sport and become golf enthusiasts.
An avid sports fan, John always cheered for his favorite teams – the Yankees, the Giants, and the Knicks. He attended many games with his brothers, his sister, and many other family members.
John was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his siblings Thomas and his wife Diane, Michael and his wife Susan, and Kathy and her husband Tim. He was a devoted uncle and doted on his nieces and nephews, Thomas, Sean, Elizabeth, Patricia, and Timothy. His great nephews Thomas, Charlie, and Calvin and his great nieces, Quinn and Madison. He will also be lovingly remembered by his aunts and many cousins in the area and stepsiblings in New Jersey and Arizona.
A memorial visitation will be held at Basralian Funeral Home, 559 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell on Tuesday, October 14 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
John will be laid to rest with his parents in a private family prayer service at Ascension Cemetery in Monsey NY.
The family would like to thank the Dumont Police Department and the Dumont Ambulance Corp. along with the staff from Holy Name Hospital and Holy Name Hospital Paramedics.
