Tonight, I watched a DVD copy of the USC-North Carolina game in late 2005 that Ryan absolutely dominated. I was there that night at the Sports Arena and tonight, tears rolled down my eyes. That night was special because of Ryan and he would have been graduating from SC (my alma mater) this month.
You will never be forgotten, Franchise.

I can't imagine the pain you feel from the lose of your son, Ryan. I have daughters named Reyan and, Cheyan and a son named Bryan. My son is a high school student-athlete in Texas. I thank God for my children everyday. I pray that all of my children except and use the knowledge I give, in order to prepare them for success in life. I know that your son adored and respected you. He was truly a gift and his gifts are still shining. May God truly bless and keep you.

During a scholarship search, I came across the story of your son. Eventhough I do not know you or knew her son, the story of love between mother and son that you all shared I felt. Being a mother of 2 sons, there is no relationship quite like this. Mother and sons love is so genuine.
It is good to know that a memory of a scholarship is in his honor. Thank you for your story.

Dear Ms. Francis,
So sorry to hear of your loss. I had heard of this story months ago and was sad. I personally didn't know any of y'all. However, on Wednesday, I was listening to the radio here in Los Angeles and the actor Tom Arnold was being interviewed.
He was being his funny self and then got serious. He had spoke of the death of Ryan Francis and how he had come to visit you approx. a week after this had happened. You were a grieving mother at the time and I'm sure you still are.
Mr. Arnold had been given a scholorship to Phoenix University. As was stated in the interview, he then had an idea that you might be able to use this to help with your grief and to try and move on the best you can.
I understand you have accepted and felt that was a good end to the story. However, since Phoenix U heard of this, Mr. Arnold informed us that Phoenix U is now going to allow yourself and Mr. Arnold to give away 100 scholorships next yr in a program that is called "First Chance". I think that is wonderful that you will be able to spend the rest of your life giving something to others as important as an education.
Once again, very sorry for your loss and wish you the best of luck with "First Chance".....remember, you can never shine your light on someone else's path, without brightening your own.
God Bless

As a proud Glen Oaks High School alum living in Arizona, I had the pleasure of watching Ryan play against ASU last season. On the basketball court, Ryan was at home. I remember telling my friend, an ASU graduate that I attended the game with, "My boy Ryan is gonna tear ya'll up" I never got the chance to meet Ryan personally, but I knew if he was a GOHS b-ball player coached by Coach Adger, he was special. When I saw on the news here that Ryan had been murdered, my heart ached for the community, the school, and most of all his family. I can't begin to say why things like this happen, but please know that God is looking over the flock right now, and he will always comfort you. I know Ryan is smiling down on us know with a basketball in his hand, waiting for his next game on God's Golden Court. We all know he won't be beat and neither will the memory of an oustanding young man whose life ended way to soon.
Rest in Peace #12, we love you and miss you.

RYAN,
THERE WAS NO EASY WAY TO SAY GOODBYE
DAY AND NIGHT I WOULD LAY AND CRY
THE HURT I FEEL IS TOO MUCH TO BARE BUT I KNOW I'LL BE OK
FOR YOU ARE IN A BETTER PLACE, AND I'LL SEE YOU AGAIN SOMEDAY
YOU WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND THE CHOICES I MADE
BUT I ASK THAT YOU FORGIVE ME, FOR THE WAY I BEHAVED
IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME I WOULD
BUT THAT'S NOT HAPPENING SO I'LL MOVE ON....IF I COULD
JUST REMEMBER ME AND LOOK DOWN ON YOUR MOTHER
FOR SHE LOVES YOU DEARLY.....LIKE NO OTHER
BUT GOD LOVES YOU MOST AND NOW YOUR ON HIS TEAM
YOU ONCE TOLD ME LIFE'S TOO SHORT
NOW I SEE WHAT YOU MEAN
BUT LIFE'S NOT OVER FOR YOU
YOUR MORE ALIVE THAN EVER
YOU LIVE ON IN PEOPLE'S HEARTS
GOD KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING...HE'S VERY CLEVER
SO LOOK DOWN ON US RYAN
WE'LL BE SEEING YOU
REST IN PEACE RYAN FRANCIS
REST IN PEACE "PICKLE" AND "BLUE"
TO RYAN'S MOTHER,
I KNOW TIMES MAY GET HARD AND LONELY, BUT HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH
FOR RYAN IS IN A BETTER PLACE
AN ANGEL IN THE SKY
HE LOVED YOU DEARLY, AND THAT YOU ALREADY KNOW
I KNOW MANY WANTED HIM HERE
BUT IT WAS TIME TO GO
GOD WANTED ANOTHER ALL-STAR, AND RYAN WAS ONE INDEED
FOR HE MAY HAVE A TASK UP THERE, TO HELP SOMEONE IN NEED
SO JUST REMEMBER WHEN YOUR NIGHTS GET COLD AND YOUR HEART GETS HEAVY
RYAN IS NEAR, AND YOU'LL BE JUST FINE
HE LEFT HIS MARK DOWN HERE, BUT NOW IT'S HIS TIME IN HEAVEN TO SHINE
IF YOU EVER NEED COMFORT, SEEK IT FROM THE LORD
I KNOW IT WILL MAKE IT BETTER, AND TIMES WON'T BE SO HARD
MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, MAY YOU ALL BE BLESSED
RYAN IS AT PEACE

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Ms. Paulette and Family:
I pray that God keeps you and comfort you. I too share your pain but we all will be alright. I miss ryan so much and i think of him all of the time. He was a good person with a good heart and almost more than just a friend to me. I had a dream about him the night before the funeral and in that dream he told me don't cry and don't worry about anything and that he'll see me when i cross over. That lets me know that he made it to heaven. Now we just have to wait even though it will be tough. God bless you and I will keep on praying!!!!!!!!

To The Francis Family:
You all are in my prayers. When I heard about this I was shock, devstated, and very hurt. Every since I heard about this all I could do is cry, but I'm trying to stay strong and not cry cause I know you want me to stay smiling like you did and I will. I remember Ryan as an funny, smart, cool and handsome individual to be around. Ryan was the type when he come around he would aways have something smart to say, but I would laugh it off with him cause he knew I had something to come back on him with all he had to do was give me a few minutes to come up with something. He was a very fun person though. Ryan you will truly be missed and you will always have a place in my heart. I love you and miss you dearly.

MS. Francis I am just a child of GOD who understands what it feels like to have to let go of someone you would want to hold on to for the rest of your life. I will pray that you find the strength to face the next day. When you look at your child face for the first time you never know the plan God has in store for them. You just hope and pray that they follow his path. I just want you to know that the footsteps of man are ordered by GOD. Even though I know with every breath that you take you want him here with you. GOD wanted him more. I will pray for you and your family.

I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

BUT HE WHO DIED FOR US HAVE A BETTER PLAN FOR RYAN LeCHANC FRANCIS BUT FOR MY REASONING HE ABOVE DO NOT OWE ME AN EXLANATION IN DUE TIME WE WILL FIND OUT.
BELIEVE IN CHRIST MS. PAULETTE
BE STRONG FOR US HOLD YOUR HEAD UP YOU DID YOUR PART NOW ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS... LET GOD...

FOR GOD SO LOVE THE WORLD HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, "JESUS". I KNOW THAT RYAN WAS YOUR ONLY SON AND YOU DID NOT WANT HIM TO LEAVE YOU, BUT GOD WANTED HIM AND REMEMBER THAT RYAN WILL ALWAYS BE WITH YOU AND WATCHING OVER YOU. I AM VERY PROUD TO SAY THAT I ADMIRES HIS ACCOMPLISHMENT AND DREAMS. I WISH TO EXPRESS MY CONDOLENCES AND PRAYERS TO THE FAMILY AND I ALSO RECOMMEND "JESUS" TO THE FAMILY.

Ryan was a very special young man to my children. My daughter Tiffani and Ashley Snowden shared an apartment for a year and my son Ventric, who graduated from Glen Oaks in 2003,partnered with Ryan in EAD on several projects. I have never, ever heard either of them say a negative word about Ryan. Even watching him on ESPN playing ball was a joy. I came to know him as my own because EVERYBODY who knew him, whether directly or indirectly, knew that he was special. I, too am a single parent with one son and one daughter. I was in attendance at the real celebration of Ryan on yesterday and was moved to tears the ENTIRE time because I can only imagine what your emptiness must feel like. God knows and will keep you in perfect peace as long as your mind is stayed on Him. Use this verse from the book of Philippians as your guide and you will never fail. It is from Chapter 4, verse 13. "I can do ALL things through CHRIST who strengthens me." God can do it, Paulette. He can and He will. Know that your life is what it is because of your relationship with Christ and then with Ryan and Ryan lives on in all of us because of his relationship with Christ and then with you. Your son and his lifestyle touched millions of people. Yesterday was evident and this guestbook is more evidence of that fact.

Ms. Paulette, you raised an amazing young man! I left a little message here for Ryan since I was unable to pay my last respects in person. However, my prayers are with you now... I pray that our Lord may comfort you and bring you peace; He is faithful! Please know that your son was loved by many and continues to have a special place in our hearts. I will miss him but my hope is that I may some day meet him again in our eternal home.

I am just someone who turned on the news Saturday and saw a life gone from this world far too soon. I would just like to say to the family that while it seems that your world has come to an end with the passing of your love one; Hold on to one another and hold on to the Lord. I pray that he keep you all in his loving arms. I ask that everyone pray for you not just at this moment but in the hours, days, months, and years ahead. I will keep you in my prayers. And just remember joy cometh in the morning . God Bless you all.

sorry for what has happened but life must go on. i know its a hurting feeling because he was your only child and didn't have a chance to leave grand kids to help you with memories. But all i can say ss think about the good times you've had with Ryan and you will make it one day at a time. I had just begin to know Ryan about a couple of months ago. he is finally resting in peace that is.

I remember Ryan from when I was the score keeper at Plaquemine High School. I remember Ryan's kindness and determination! We would always taunt each other before the game, saying who was going to win or lose! I hope the family finds comfort in this sad time. Remember GOD LOVES YOU!

Ms. Francis:
I send to you my condolences and I cease not to make mention of you and your family in my prayers on a daily basis. My heart is still aching at the news of Ryans earthly departure, but I know that he is in a better place. Ryan and I were 5th grade classmates at Park Forest Elementary and ended up reuniting our friendship in Los Angeles for our Freshman year in college. I thank God for the time he allowed us to share at dances on "The Row" at USC as well as our phone conversations. I am honored to have known such a great person He always made me laugh and was truly a great friend.
Rest in peace Ryan - Your presence will be missed by many, but your spirit will never be forgotten.
Your friend,
Fabian Jackson
