Jim's secret was that he was never in a hurry...
Legacy Jim McGuinness lived the American Dream. He married his high school sweetheart, founded and nurtured a successful business, supported community causes big and small and lived a fulfilling and active life up until the very end. Jim's secret was that he was never in a hurry. His sincere compassion, quick wit, good story telling and endless jokes helped Jim make friends easily. Jim was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran – serving five years, one month and 15 days as he often repeated. Golf was a big part of Jim's life. He started as a caddy at Woodbury Country Club, cared for the tennis courts, became a member in the 1950s and was club champion in 1962. He was fortunate to have had three holes-in-one – all on the same hole - #3. Family Jim is the beloved husband of the late Marie L. (nee Schultes). Devoted father of James A., Jr. (Patricia), Kathleen M. Berg (Don), Irene M. Bradley (Michael) and William J. McGuinness (Karen). Loving grandfather of Maddie Strange, Gwen Mehler, Elysia Brennan, Kimberly Tiernan, Jamie Berg, William Bradley, Mary and Andrew McGuinness and great-grandfather of Elliot, Nathan and Katelyn. He is predeceased by all of his dear siblings, John, Mike, Bob, Bill, Mary and Charlie. Farewell Service Viewing Friday from 4-8pm and Saturday from 8:30-9am at McGuinness Funeral Home 34 Hunter St. Woodbury. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 10am at Holy Angels Parish at St. Patrick's Church, Woodbury. Interment: Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown. Donations: Holy Angels Parish St. Patrick's Church 64 Cooper St. Woodbury, NJ 08096. Please share a favorite memory of Jim by clicking hereTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I will always remember my Uncle Jim with a big smile on his face. He was always happy and ready to cheer you up or share a joke with you. He complimented my dear Aunt Marie nicely. I always enjoyed seeing them, although often it was on very sad occassions. Even at the hardest of times, both Uncle Jim and Aunt Marie lifted your spirits and made you glad to be with them. I will miss him. My prayers to all my cousins and their families. With love, Claire and Earl
