David Leroy Quarterson

David Leroy Quarterson of Stuart, Florida, a devoted father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away January 7, 2012 at the age of 71. Born November 20, 1940 and raised in Farrell PA, he went on to graduate from Youngstown State University. He was a business executive through his career working in waste management, pest control, and recycling most recently as Senior Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions for Waste Management Inc. During his tenure with Waste Management, Inc., he also led the company's pest control division. Mr. Quarterson was married to his wife of 45 years, Patricia, in September 1963. Together, they raised two children while living in various cities throughout the United States including Akron, Chicago, Cincinnati, Denton (Dallas/Ft. Worth), Pittsburgh area, finally settling in Stuart Fla. After the passing of his wife, Patricia, in 2008, he traveled the globe on many adventures. David developed a special interest in the Aztec, Maya and Inca cultures taking several trips to Mexico and Guatemala through the Institute of Mayan studies group developing fond friendships especially with Lynn Hausmann. He also traveled to: Australia, where he dove the Great Barrier Reef; Egypt, where he toured the Egyptian Pyramids at Giza and traveled the Nile River; and Italy where he toured Rome and Florence. David is survived by his son, Michael Quarterson and daughter-in-law, Kandi; his daughter, Rae Hostetler and son-in-law, Bruce; his two grandsons, Thomas David Hostetler (12) and Zachery Xiao Han Hostetler (10); and his brother, Gene Quarterson. A Memorial service will be celebrated 3:30 pm, Saturday, March 3, 2012 at The Church of the Holy Nativity, 275 S. Richmond Avenue, Clarendon Hills, IL 60514. Immediately following the memorial service, his cremated remains will be placed in the church columbarium next to his wife, Patricia.
