John William (JW) Dishman, age 66, of Harriman, passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 at his home.
John fought a courageous battle with Cancer, COPD, and Mesothelioma (asbestos disease) for 5 years.
He was a retired member of Plumbers and Steamfitters local # 102 with over 40 years of service.
Preceded in death by parents Oscar and Marie Bennett Dishman and sister Lucille Dishman Marlow.
Survivors include wife Beverly Wright Dishman, son and daughter-in-law, Michael Anthony and Rena Dishman; daughters, Tammy Sue Laymance and Rose Marie Nelson; grandchildren Josh Dishman,Matthew Dishman and fiancée Jesi Kring, Tyler Dishman, Cheri Shadoan, Jacob Nelson and Caitlyn Nelson; great grandchildren Caleb Shadoan and Kaley Dishman; sisters and brothers-in- law, Thelma and John Grissom of Knoxville; Della and the late Jack Collier of Kingston, Margaret and Leonard Nelson of Oliver Springs, Dianna Dishman of Knoxville, Sherry and Gary Samples of Kingston, and Kathy and Bobby Wise of Knoxville; brothers and sisters –in-law, Raymond (Buddy) and Bonnie Dishman of Harriman, Wayne and the late Ruby Dishman of Knoxville, and Steve Dishman of Harriman; brother –in-law Bill Marlow of Kingston, brother -in-law and sister -in-law Newell, Jr. and Lorene Wright of Joliet, Illinois; a very special family member, Nina Lankford Hall of Tracy City, Tennessee, special family friends Todd Nelson of Harriman and Kathy Collier Jones of Kingston, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 5-8 pm at Kyker Funeral Home in Harriman with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 pm in the chapel with Pastor Richard Jones officiating. Interment will be 10:00 am Friday, October 1, 2010 in Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood. An online guest register is available at
