Clifford M. Sperre

Clifford M. Sperre, 96, of West Hartford, died peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, in the comfort of his home. He was the beloved husband of Ruth Wells (Porter) Sperre for 61 years. Born in Hartford, son of the late Louis Sperre and Hilma (Swanson) Sperre, he was a lifelong West Hartford resident and graduated from Hall High School in 1935. Mr. Sperre was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Newington, and was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was among the first to set up occupation in Berlin, Germany. Prior to the war, he was employed by Colt Manufacturing, Hartford, and retired from Arrow, Hart & Hegeman, Inc., after many years of employment. His survivors include two sons, Keith Sperre of West Hartford, and Mark Sperre and wife Dianne of Marion, MA; four grandchildren, Eric Sperre and wife Candace, Kevin Sperre and wife Bella, Michelle Sperre, and Matthew Sperre; one great-granddaughter, Sarah Olivia; his twin brother and his wife, Chester and Rita Sperre of West Hartford; and several nieces and nephews; special thanks to his CNA Florence KariKari of Accra, Ghana. He was pre-deceased by a brother Norman Sperre. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church, 124 Maple Hill Ave., Newington. He will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. There are no calling hours.
