Waltham – Mr. James H. Fowler, of Waltham, died Monday, January 20, 2014 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He was 85. Jim was born in Waltham on February 25, 1928, a son of the late James and Laura (Shea) Fowler, and had been a lifelong resident. During the tail end of World War II he served with the United States Army Air Corps. On November 22, 1948 he married Anna P. Camarra of Watertown in Sacred Heart Church on Mount Auburn Street and the couple soon moved to Waltham where they've been residents since. For thirty-five years Jim worked as a manager for the First National Stores and after that worked for a number of years for the Raytheon Company. He developed a great love for golf and could often be found playing a round at his favorite course, Sandy Burr, in Wayland. Jim also belonged to the PFC John M. Sullivan USMC VFW Post No. 10334 in Waltham and had been, with his family, an active member of Saint Jude Parish for many years. In addition to his wife of sixty-five years, Anna, he leaves his daughter, Laura M. Fowler of Westford; his grandchildren, Jennifer Kroese, Leslie Flanagan, Danielle Fowler, Emily Fowler and Michael Fowler; his great-grandchildren, Cassie and Derek Kroese and Kim and Matt Flanagan; his brother and sister, Kenneth Fowler of Watertown and Agnes Dupuis of Waltham and many nieces and nephews. Jim was also the father of the late John F. Fowler; grandfather of the late John Fowler; father-in-law of the late Doug Cook and a brother of the late William, John and George Fowler, Mary Cunniff and Loretta Powers. Family and friends will honor and remember Jim's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, January 23rd from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
