Mildred (Colicchio) Strandberg passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at the Wingate at Reading. She was 92 years of age. Born in Boston, Mildred was the loving daughter of the late Nicholas and Agnes (Connell) Colicchio. Mildred was a warm and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her. Mildred worked at Transitran and Marshalls for many years. She loved spending time with her family, cooking and reading but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and her beloved dogs Nikki and Lucky. Mildred was the loving wife of the late Tere. She was the devoted mother of Joan Ripa and her husband Billy, Robert Strandberg and his wife Judy, Thomas Strandberg and his wife Deborah and the late Richard Strandberg. She was the cherished grandmother of Tina Ohlson and her husband George, Jill Skinner and her husband Wes, Cheri Myette and her husband Scott, Jennifer Herlihy and her husband Mark, Adam Strandberg and his wife Stacy, Rachael Strandberg, Matthew Strandberg and his wife Rebecca, Richard Strandberg and the late Ryan Strandberg. Mildred was the treasured sister of the Honorable Neil Colicchio and his wife Dot, and was predeceased by Joseph Colicchio and his wife Jenny, Margaret Walker and her husband Ralph, Mary Mantica and Frances Savage and her husband Doc. Mildred is also survived by ten great grandchildren (Michael, Michelle, Evan, Aiden, Keagan, Abigail, Brayden, Davin, Nicholas, Joseph) also Riley and Madaline. and many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Joseph Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING Friday at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Mildred's life in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St. Reading at 10:30 am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours Thursday 4-8pm. Parking attendants and ramped entrance are available. Interment Charles Lawn Memorial Park, Reading. In lieu of flowers, please honor Mildred by making donations in memory of her to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
