Mrs. Barbara B. Blackburn

BARBARA B. BLACKBURN (nee Byrnes), age 88, passed away October 24, 2014. Daughter of and preceded in death by James and May Byrnes and sister, Ellen Byrnes. After graduating from DeVilbiss High School in Toledo, Barb attended Miami University (Ohio), class of 1948, joined Alpha Omega Phi sorority and met her beloved husband Stan (deceased 2011.) During their 62 years of marriage, they raised five children: Douglas (Lisbeth Stubbs), Eric (Karen Lucek), David (Sally Cooper), James (Catherine Amon), and Ellen (Karen Casler) in Parma. She was active in the community as a Republican Precinct Committee woman, a substitute teacher in Parma School District, community president at Shurmer Place in Strongsville, and a member of St. Joseph's choir. She and Stan enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and Europe, making new friends, and loving their eleven grandchildren: Kevin (Sddita), Scott (Kim), Steven, Gregory, Zachary, Michael, Kelly, Erin (Garrett), Hayley, Jillian and Shannon (Kyle.) In 2013, Barb welcomed great granddaughter Rylee Blackburn into her heart.
