Pauline (Polly) Keppler Stone died peacefully at 97, on May 4, 2015 at Epoch Senior Healthcare Center in Chestnut Hill, MA. She was born to U.S.N. Captain Chester H.J. and Mildred Fenno Keppler of Newton, MA where she grew up. After graduating from the Brimmer & May School, Polly made her debut to society and volunteered as a hostess for numerous fundraisers and benefits throughout the greater Boston area. In 1942, she met and married U.S.N. Lieutenant Everett L. Stone. During the war years, Polly was an active member of the Massachusetts Women's Republican Club selling war bonds. After the birth of their first child, the couple lived for a short time in Hopkinton, MA but soon moved to Weston, MA where they resided for 20 years before retiring to Governor's Island, Gilford, NH. Polly was preceded in death by her husband Everett L. Stone, and her sister, Nina Keppler Dusenbury. She is survived by her four children, Keppler Stone and wife Caroline, of San Jose, CA; Alton Stone and wife Karen Gostenhofer of Sterling, MA; Aroline F. "Lin" Gallagher of Boston, MA and Kathryn Gallagher of Dorchester, MA, as well as five grandchildren: Tavia White, Kyle Stone, Jacqueline Gallagher, Melissa Gallagher, Amy Gallagher, and four great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut St., Newton, MA on Saturday May 30th, at noon followed by graveside internment. Friends and family that wish to join in a celebration of her life are welcome to the home of Kathryn Gallagher from 3 – 6 pm on Saturday May 30th. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the National Wildlife Federation, at P.O. Box 1583, Merrifield, VA 22116-1583.

I was lucky enough to have enjoyed Polly's company many times in my college years and after as a friend of Lin's. She was a great mother and much loved by her children. My heart goes out to Lin and the rest of the family.
