Ruby Ethel Waters

Ruby Ethel Waters, age 86, of Forest City, died Sunday, August 7, 2016 at her residence. Born November 22, 1929 in Rutherford County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Ervin Pope and Lillie Greene Pope. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandson, John Waters; two sisters, Winnie Goforth, Frances Scruggs; brother, Billy Pope; and brother-in-law, Gene Scruggs. Ruby was a long time member of Sandy Level Baptist Church and retired from the Haynes Plant as a Cloth Room Inspector. She was a loving wife and mother, who always invested herself into her family. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, William Floyd Waters of Forest City; two sons, Bud Waters and wife Debbie of Forest City, Jody Waters and wife Deanie of Mooresboro; one brother, Charles "Jake" Pope and wife Becky of Bostic; one sister, Mary Lou Turner of Bostic; and a brother-in-law, Ray Goforth of Bostic. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Julie Waters, Myra Waters, Jordan Waters and Jessica Waters. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Sandy Level Baptist Church with Claude Waters and Reverend David Barton officiating. Interment will follow the service at Sandy Level Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
