Mr. Frank J. Masley

Dear Family and Friends, We lost our beloved Frank on Saturday September 10, 2016 after a ferocious battle with melanoma. Frank has numerous life accomplishments. He is a graduate of Christiana High School, earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University and a MBA from Goldey-Beacom. Frank is a three time Olympic Athlete and a ten time National Champion in the sport of Luge. As if this wasn't enough, he established a successful glove company, Masley Enterprises, with his partner in life, Donna. Many are already aware of these accomplishments, and googling his name would yield more results than could fit in an entire newspaper, let alone an obituary. What we need to remember is Frank was more than these accomplishments. He was a family man, a community man, a businessman, and most importantly a man with a message of respect and love for others. He taught this message to all of us through many initiatives; including the Community Benefits Agreement for Eastside Wilmington, sponsoring the Made in America Act, supporting the Delaware Greenway through Wilmington, and his favorite local park clean-ups (we think the neighbors just came for the donuts). These are a few of the many organizations he supported. Masley Enterprises offered opportunity to those with challenged backgrounds, thereby earning Masley Enterprises recognition by the President Obama Champion of Change Awards in 2014. Frank continued his love and passion for Luge and the Olympics by participating in the design of an indoor start ramp in Lake Placid and the Muskegon Recreational Luge Track. He was a member of the National Luge Committee, Chairman of the US National Luge Team Committee and never failed to build the world's best backyard Luge track after every snowstorm. Frank's achievements are not limited to Delaware, but are Globally remembered. My kids and I want to formally thank you individually for helping Frank through his journey. Your support via "Uber driving" him to daily treatments, being our "Chefs", maintaining our lawn, flying in for a few hours to visit, sending positive vibes via Facebook, cards, hugs… Our tremendous team support is what provided Frank the energy and strength to endure. This gave us more time to support Frank through his difficult health crisis. He left our world on his terms, not allowing the cancer to rule his body anymore. He is our "Olympic Superman." Frank was a gift that touched many lives -- we are reading through messages from all those he has touched and that inspires us to continue his legacy of respect and love for others. We know that losing Frank was not our loss alone. Frank has mentored all of us to listen, understand, and support. Our wish is for everyone to "Be Like Frank." It is difficult not to be saddened with our loss of Frank, but he is our blessing and we need to take ahold of the joy he brought and pass it on. Thank you all for your prayers, smiles, hugs, and your tears. We pray for Peace in the hearts of everyone touched by Frank. Services will be held Friday, September 16, 2016 at 11:00am, at Saint Mary Magdalen Church, 7 Sharpley Rd., Wilmington 19803 followed by a celebration of Frank at 1601 Jessup St, Wilmington 19802. In celebration of Frank's life, bright color attire is suggested.
