John Leming Obituary

Published by Jeffries & Keates Funeral Home on Apr. 15, 2019.
John "Jack" Callan Leming, 78, of Cape May Point, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 15th, 2019. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Upper Darby, he graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School and then received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from St. Joseph's University. Jack loved sports, including his Phillies and beloved Super Bowl Champion Eagles, and would often be seen cheering on his children and grandchildren from the sidelines. He played football, basketball, and baseball growing up. Jack was named to the first team Financial League all-star teams in both baseball and basketball. He was also honored to be drafted to play for the Dregger All-Stars Basketball Team (a semi-professional team who played games at Convention Hall prior to the Philadelphia Warrior's games). Jack spent most of his life enjoying Cape May Point – his favorite place on earth, and where he met his one true love, Eileen. Jack in his early years guarded the Point beaches as a lifeguard, and more recently, served as a volunteer firefighter and Treasurer to the Cape May Point Volunteer Fire Company No. 1. Many days Jack would be found working in his prize winning garden or in one of the flower beds around the Point, including at St. Agnes. Jack was an avid fisherman and boater. He shared his love of the sea and boating with all of his family, friends, fellow Pointers, and boaters in Florida. While in Florida, Jack proudly served as Commodore to the Burnt Store Isles Boat Club. Jack was a true family man and friend to many. Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Eileen (Fox); his three loving sons, John Jr. (Connie), Steven (Sue), and Patrick (Jennifer); his adoring grandchildren, Eric (Amanda), Ashley, Madison, Matthew, Sean, Jack, and Jude; his great grandchild, Bryn; his brothers, Albert and Robert; his sister, Laura; many nieces and nephews; and many close and loyal friends. Preceded in death by his parents, George Jr. and Catharine, and his brother, George III. Family and friends are invited to Jack's Life Celebration and visitation at St. Agnes Church, 501 Cape Avenue, Cape May Point, New Jersey, on April 26, 2019 from 9:00 a.m.-10:50 a.m., followed by a Memorial Mass at 11a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Marianist Retreat Center, 301 Cape Avenue, P.O. Box 488, Cape May Point, New Jersey, or Cape May Point Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, P.O. Box 291, Cape May Point, New Jersey, noting donation in Jack's memory. Chris and I just now learned of Jack's passing. We are so very saddened and sorry. We will ALWAYS owe you and Jack the world. We'll never forget our blind date, courtesy of you and Jack, when we met at the London. Seems like yesterday... Our deepest sympathies to you and your family Eileen.

We are very sorry to hear of Jack's passing. Meeting Jack at PSFS and working together with him later in a small company, where his passion and integrity were integral to the success, are fond memories. We car pooled for a few years, traversing the Schuykill end to end every day, where we had plenty of time to solve the companies challenges, not to mention the issues with the philly sports teams, plus a few of the world's
problems. I was proud to consider Jack a good friend. Diane and I send our prayers and deepest syympathies to Eileen and the family.

I am stunned to hear of Jacks passing. My condolences to Eileen and the family. I first met and worked for Jack as an IT consultant @PSFS In Philadelphia in the 80s. We became good friends in and out of work. He heart was as big as he was tall, he was a gracious, kind man. May his family take comfort in a life well lived. RIP Jack.

Dear Eileen and family, Jack and I were good friends and classmates at Bonner. He was always a class act. While I haven't seen him in a few years, we share so much in common - love of fishing and of Cape May Point to name a few. I also know Jack had a strong faith and never hesitated to share it.

I'm sure he is already at home with the Lord Jesus. May his love for you comfort all of you and may your faith in being reunited with him help you fill the void he left behind.

Eileen and Family,
My sincerest condolences on your loss of a wonderful husband and father. I had the pleasure of working with Jack for many years at PSFS during our careers in Information Technology. He was a great guy to work with who gave his all for the success of the team. In recent years we have been "Email Friends" and shared a lot of our thoughts and ideas every week.
