James Charles Craven, 77, of Southampton, passed away Wednesday July 16, 2025 at home surrounded by family. Born in Penndel, he attended Neshaminy High School, received his degree in Biomedical Engineering from Temple University and his Masters Degree in Hospital Administration from Saint Joseph's University. Jim was also a proud veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam Conflict.
Jim dedicated his life to the care of others, working in several hospitals in New Jersey before moving on to cardiovascular care. As VP of Cardiovascular Services he was instrumental in bringing emergency and outpatient treatment, developing Evangelical's Emergency and Outpatient Cardio-Vascular Services in Lewisburg, Pa. He had a strong focus on patient care and innovative treatments, this played a key role in delivering high-quality cardiac services, saving many lives in the process.
He enjoyed playing golf, spending time in his garden, taking trips to Aruba, and was an avid fan of Philadelphia sports teams. He loved to dance and listen to music, he also loved to brag about his grandchildren. Jim proudly accomplished his dream of receiving his private pilot's license. He loved the beach and spending time on his boat. He had a lifelong love of horses, enjoying many years riding his horse Dutch and competed in his first of several horse shows at the age of 75.
Son of the late Catherine (Myers) and Charles W. Craven Sr., he is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Dorothy J. (Losch), his daughters Dawn Craven, Heather Campbell, Jamie Grimes, Son-in-Law Paul Grimes, grandchildren Ryan Campbell (Emily), Danielle Maicher (Kenneth), Lauren Giacomucci (Eric), Tyler Campbell (Alisha), Nathan Grimes (Alina), Alison Grimes (Andrew), his great-grandchildren Weston, Mason, Skylar, Declan, Ella, Finley, Lily, Logan, his sisters Patricia Stafford (Donald), Wendy Curtin (Edward), his brother Charles Craven Jr (Linda) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to Jim's Life Celebration on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at McGhee Givnish Funeral Home, 690 Belmont Ave., Southampton, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Wed. July 23 at 12:00 Noon at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Ave., Southampton. Interment will be on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 9:00 AM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA. with Military Honors.
