Eleanor Jean MacArthur

Eleanor ("El") Jean (Ashey) (Fazio - yes, mom, had to mention this!) MacArthur, 73 of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, April 19th suddenly in her home. El was predeceased by her beloved husband Frank; they were married for 47 years. The pair were inseparable from marriage; he taught her how to drive manual; how to cook; introduced her to fishing and camping; and gave her many lovely nicknames including "Ellie", "Pee Wee", and "Elvira". El loved life and above all else, her family. She was extremely close to her sisters and mother, meeting with them every Sunday at "Grandma's" house to have family dinner until Florence's death. For quite a few years she opened her home to her stepfather, Bernard, and would enjoy Spaghetti Westerns with him. An avid fisherman, she is shown here with Frank on one of their vacations at Lac Baskatong in Quebec. She loved bingo and bowling; the latter had her as part of the Saturday Night Couples League in Wilbraham for decades. She took trips often for vacation, and her last one was with her sister, Evelyn, and her loving son Scott. One of her greatest loves was seeing her grandchildren on a weekly basis - she would spoil them rotten, ignoring the protests of their parents! Eleanor was born to the late Florence Hemmings and Russell Ashey on August 19, 1946 in Springfield, Mass She leaves behind her sons Scott and Bernie (Patrice) both of Springfield; her sisters Evelyn (her twin), Karen and Laura, and her brother Sidney. She also leaves behind and will be forever missed by her 3 adoring grandchildren David, Isaac, and Amy. She is predeceased by her brothers Russell and Richard (Dick), and sister Robin.
