Bryant Hardison Obituary

Bryant Hardison, age 64, a resident of Bath, North Carolina died Sunday, August 1, 2021. Bryant was born July 28, 1957 to the late Willie "Billie" Hardison and Bryant "EB" Etheridge Hardison, Sr. in Beaufort County, NC. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Athens Chapel Church of Christ in Bath, NC. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 10:00 am until the service hour at the church.  Bryant lived a life of service. He was involved in Boy Scouts for many years, from being a scout himself to leading many boys to achieve their Eagle Award as a Scout Master of Troop 258. He also served with East Carolina Council as a District Executive. He met regularly with the NC Society of Surveyors, of which he was a member and also held offices both in the Eastern Chapter of the Society of Surveyors and at the state level, and counted his fellow members as treasured friends. One of his favorite ministries was working at the Beaufort County Jail and Hyde County Prison as a Gideon, leading Bible studies and services with inmates. You could find him on Saturday mornings for many years in fellowship with his fellow Gideons at the hospital cafeteria. When his children were in school, he was president of the Bath Elementary PTO and served on the Beaufort County Board of Education as a member and chairman. His church family at Athens Chapel Church of Christ was very dear to him. He served there as a deacon and enjoyed cooking as part of the fellowship ministry. He made many lasting friendships in his 28 years of working with Weyerhaeuser before starting his own land surveying business, Wood Duck Land Surveying, to serve his local community. He was a devoted husband, loving father and the most fun "Pop" to his grandchildren. He will be missed greatly, but we rejoice to know that he is with his Savior and has been made new.  He is survived by his wife, Susan Hardison, one son, Joshua B. Hardison, two daughters; Katherine H. Hosey, (Alan) Molly H. Brickhouse, (Sam) grandchildren; Rebecca Lynn Hosey, Samuel Brickhouse, Brianna May Hosey, Ava Grace Hosey, Isaac T. Brickhouse and Delilah June Hosey, one sister, Jennifer Small and a niece, Christina Small. Joseph B. Paul, Jr. & Washington Funeral & Cremation is honored to serve the Hardison family. In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to Athens Chapel Church of Christ Building Fund, 35 Delia Wallace Road, Bath, NC 27808 or The Gideons International, P.O. Box 2578, Washington, NC 27889

To Bryant's family and friends, my sympathies. He would use our office in Hyde to do his surveying research. Very personable fellow. Cherish your sweet memories, hang onto your faith and each other, that will help give you strength in the days to come. God bless you.

My heartfelt condolences to Bryant's family. I was a childhood friend of Bryant's, growing up along side him in the Washington Schools, all the way thru graduation. I moved away then but from the beautiful pics, it is clear that Bryant never changed. He was full of goodness all the days of his life and I know a huge hole has been left in your lives. God bless you all as you move thru life now without him.

Susan,
I am deeply sorry for your loss. I did not know Bryant well, or long, but he was a good man. He gave me a job and opportunity when I needed one and it was clear he had a big heart. He will be greatly missed. I pray that you can feel the comfort that God sends knowing that he is now in heaven looking down on you.

When I was little girl, I spent many hours in the auditorium at WHS with my mother who directed Bryant in several plays. I remember his tall frame and strong voice would command any audience in full length plays or one-act plays for competition. My uncle (Joseph Rogers) was a fellow Gideon and thought a lot of him. Bryant touched many lives and will be remembered for his love of family and his love of God. Blessing to all ...

Wish we had the pleasure of meeting Bryant in person, but feel we knew him and his Christian values, through Molly and her two sons.
He is helping the youth in heaven get their Eagle Scout awards. His legacy continues. Praise God and let us “ survey” his wonders!

Bryant was a part of my summers at Bath for years. I loved his spirit, his love of life, his joy of having such wonderful children, and the way he could help out at all those fish cookouts. Bath just won't be the same without him.
