Eileen (Renwick) Eddy

Eileen (Renwick) Eddy, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully at Brightview Concord River in Billerica on Monday, November 29, 2021, at age 91. Eileen was born on October 31, 1930 in Boston, one of three children of the late George and Edith (Shipston) Renwick. Raised in W. Roxbury, she graduated from Roslindale High School and began a working career at Shawmut Bank for several years. On June 21, 1952, she married Melrose native Roderick E. Eddy and they settled in Melrose to raise a family of three children. Eileen was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She was happiest when surrounded by the laughter and joy of her grandchildren and especially delighted in playing board games and singing songs with them. She was a lover of music who participated in numerous Church Choirs and chorale groups throughout her life. Eileen was happy to fill her days attending plays and musicals with her husband Rod. She was an avid reader and history enthusiast and enjoyed sharing stories about her family's English and Scottish legacies. Eileen maintained childhood friends through her life that she held close to her heart. Many relationships started from elementary or high school and continued into her later years. For many years, Lake Winnipesaukee was a favorite destination for annual family vacations. After Rod's retirement, she and Rod enjoyed traveling along New England's coastline to visit beaches and lighthouses. A warm, thoughtful woman, Eileen was easy going and eager to please. She will be deeply missed, but always lovingly remembered for her genuine care for others, and her steady and selfless support of her family. Eileen was the beloved wife of the late Roderick E. Eddy with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Stephen R. Eddy and his wife Alicia of Duxbury, Janet E. Perron and her husband Ron of Hudson, NH and Gordon M. Eddy and his wife Frances of Westford. Cherished grandmother of Cameron Eddy, Malcolm Eddy, Trevor Perron, Rachel Perron, Alexander Eddy, Colin Eddy, and Griffin Eddy. Dear sister of Douglas Renwick and his wife Charlyn Feeney of Marion, and the late Richard Renwick and his late wife Caroline. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Eileen's family will gather privately to honor and remember Eileen's life. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
