Patricia Cool Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sproles Family Funeral Home - New Castle on Dec. 28, 2025.
Patricia "Patty" J. Cool, 68, of rural New Castle, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, December 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family in the comfort of her home, following a courageous year-long battle with cancer.

Patty was born on August 19, 1957, at the family home on Punkintown Road (CR 650 N), a daughter of the late Donald Irwin and Patricia Ann (Hutson) Kissick. She graduated from Blue River Valley Jr.-Sr. High School in 1975 and soon after married the love of her life, Joseph Cool, on September 12, 1975. Together, they shared 50 years of marriage, celebrating their golden anniversary just this past September.

Patty had a gentle, easy-going spirit and a loving, caring nature that immediately put people at ease. Her family was always her greatest joy and top priority. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her children, first as a stay-at-home mother beginning in 1976, and later while balancing work outside the home. She was employed at the Henry County Treasurer's Office and also worked for several years as a typesetter at the Henry County News Republican.

Later in life, Patty followed a calling that perfectly reflected her compassionate heart-nursing. She began her nursing career at Muncie Health Care in 1999 and later served at Glen Oaks Health Campus from 2007 until January of 2025. Patty's genuine care and kindness left a lasting impression on her patients, and her dedication was often spoken of with gratitude by their families.

Nothing brought Patty more happiness than having her children and grandchildren gathered around her table. Sunday dinners were a cherished tradition, and her home was always open and welcoming whenever family stopped by. She was also a long-time, faithful member of Springport Christian Church, where her love for the Lord was evident in both her service and her quiet willingness to help wherever she was needed.

Those left to cherish Patty's memory include her loving husband, Joseph Cool; her children, Angela Blackburn (Joe) of New Castle, Kristina Blevins (Jeff Foster) of Springport, Melissa Cool-Clark (David) of Sulphur Springs, Rebecca Cool of New Castle, and Jason Cool (Katy) of Muncie; her grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, and Evan Blackburn, Timothy Blevins (Molly), Nathan Blevins (Macayla), Brayden Blevins, Mariah and Scott Smith, Paizley, Layla, and Jamyson Cool, Hunter Wallace (Keirsten), and David Clark (Jade); her great-grandson, Lynx Clark; her siblings, Donald Kissick (Donann) of New Castle, Rhenda Kissick of Sulphur Springs, and Joseph Kissick (Gail) of Muncie; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Sproles Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Tad Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Christian Cemetery in Springport.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
