Kalani David (1997–2022), professional surfer and skateboarder

Kalani David was a professional surfer and skateboarder who won individual gold in the under 16 division at the 2012 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship.

Kalani David was a professional surfer and skateboarder who won individual gold in the under 16 division at the 2012 World Junior Surfing Championships in Panama. He competed in the 2012 X Games in Los Angeles, placing in the top 20 in skateboard park. He continued to surf and skateboard even though he suffered from Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, a congenital heart condition that can cause seizures and paralysis. He was practicing surfing in Costa Rica when he suffered a seizure.

“I keep getting lucky, I had a seizure driving and the other in the water within a couple months. The past couple years been having seizures sleeping and just Angels watching over me cause idk how I keep getting so lucky and living thru it all. Time to get this stuff in order so I can move ahead in life, at least I can skate and fish!” – he posted on his Instagram page in June according to CNN
